Music Maker Events

Music Maker presents concerts and festivals in North Carolina, across the US and abroad featuring recipient artists often alongside nationally recognized touring acts. Through live performance, Music Maker artists share their gifts and educate the public about the importance of this overlooked musical form.

In the Summer of 2011, MMRF will partner for the eighth consecutive year with the City of Durham to present the Warehouse Blues Series, a free roots music concerts for families in the NC Triangle. In 2007, this event won the North Carolina Recreation and Parks Association Arts and Humanities Award for programs serving the 200,000 and over population category. Music Maker Jubilee




Music Maker Jubilee: Celebrating Piedmont String Bands will be presented at the Old Murphey School in Durham, N.C. on September 24th, 2011. Hosted by 2010 Grammy winner Justin Robinson, formerly of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, the Jubilee will combine multiple string band styles into one spectacular evening for the Triangle, N.C. community. Sally Peterson, Folklife Specialist for the NC Arts Council, will introduce the event and performers include Justin Robinson and the Mary Annettes, Boo Hanks, The Hushpuppies, Red Rover, and Corn and the Colonels. 



Music Maker Rendezvous at Columbia Roots N Blues N BBQ
 

Come to the Music Maker Rendezvous on Sept 9-10, 2011 at the 5th Annual Roots ‘N Blues ‘N BBQ Festival in Columbia, Missouri. Enjoy non-stop entertainment, VIP treatment and access to the legends of traditional Southern Music.  More than 30 international and national stars will be performing on 4 outdoor stages including festival headliners Taj Mahal, Dr. Ralph Stanley, Robert Randolph, Mavis Staples and Sam Bush! 8th Annual Warehouse Blues Series at Durham Central Park



Got the blues? If so, make plans to attend the 8th Annual Warehouse Blues Series. The concerts will be held on Friday evenings from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Durham Central Park, 502 Foster St. The series will include four concerts from July 22 - August 12, sponsored by Durham Parks and Recreation in partnership with Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc.; Downtown Durham Inc.; and Durham Central Park.

The concerts are free and family friendly. Bring your lawn chair, have a picnic and enjoy the blues! Coolers are allowed but alcohol is not permitted. For information call (919) 560-4355.
