Leyla McCalla is a cellist, who also plays Creole banjo and blues guitar.  She is presently living in New Orleans composing music and giving her voice to the poetry of Langston Hughes. She recently began working with the Music Maker Relief Foundation in their Next Generation program on the urging of her enthusiastic admirers Taj Mahal and the Carolina Chocolate Drops.
