NEW ALBUM! On the Case by The Crimestoppers
If you’ve heard anything recorded at our new studio in Fountain, NC, you’ve most likely heard The Crimestoppers – the genre-defying powerhouse vocal trio of Anthony “Amp” Daniels, daughter KeAmber Daniels, and niece Christy Moody.
Part of the legendary Vines family of gospel musicians, these sacred soul singers have become Music Maker Studio’s go-to backup vocalists, lending their talents to albums by other partner artists like Albert White and Leonard “Lowdown” Brown.
Now, on their debut album as a standalone act, it’s The Crimestoppers’ turn to steal the spotlight. On the Case by The Crimestoppers arrives from Music Maker Foundation on November 7, 2025.
Generations of eastern North Carolina gospel music brought Anthony “Amp” Daniels, KeAmber Daniels, and Christy “Cree” Moody to this point. But On the Case finds them taking a break from the sacred soul of their family groups to embrace straight-up soul. Like Aretha, Sam Cooke, and the Staple Singers before them, they make themselves right at home on either side of the sacred-secular divide.
They have backing from a deeply funky band led by Jimbo Mathus, a fellow Music Maker Foundation artist who rose to fame with Squirrel Nut Zippers. He also wrote all nine of these songs and co-produced with Fat Possum Records mainstay Bruce Watson.
“Since opening Music Maker Studios in 2024, Jimbo and I have invited Anthony, KeAmber, and Christy to provide backup vocals on early every recording we’ve made there,” says Tim Duffy, Executive Director and co-founder of Music Maker Foundation.
“Watching them sing backup for Earnest ‘Guitar’ Roy at last year’s Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, I was so impressed that it dawned on me: ‘Why don’t they make their own record?’”
From the sexy funk of “Body Shop” and “Dirty Hustlin’” to the soothing groove of “Soul Provider,” On the Case escorts three stellar singers out from the shadows and into the spotlight. The album can be purchased from Music Maker Foundation and is also available on streaming.
